Meet Pastor Taylor H Cox Jr

Taylor Cox Jr. is the founding pastor of Living the Word Christian Ministries where he served as senior pastor for 22 years before installing his successor in 2016.
He is also Co-director of the Greater Detroit Partnership (a Christian non-profit devoted to the formation of Christian pastor partnerships and Christ-led community transformation).

Pastor Taylor also currently serves on the executive team for “The Metro Detroit Council of 50” (formerly called Detroit 67), a joint effort of EACH, Moody Bible Institute and The Greater Detroit Partnership. He is a board member of the Pharmacy and Health Sciences College of Wayne State University in Detroit and Vice-Chair of its Council on Diversity and Inclusion.

Pastor Taylor holds BS, MBA and Ph.D. degrees in business and was formerly Associate Professor with tenure in Ross School of business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is an internationally known writer and consultant on cultural diversity in organizations and the author of four books and numerous other publications

Pastor’s Regional Prayer


For the past 17 years Pastor Taylor has been meeting with a group of other pastors to pray for the region of Metro Detroit. Together with team leader Apostle Robert King of Harvest Christian Church (Detroit) and several other senior pastors, meetings are held from 11-12:30 on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Living the Word Christian Ministries. Thomas-Cox Discussion Groups


Pastor Taylor is co-facilitator of a racially diverse group of Christian leaders who are meeting for discussion and mutual learning. The group was founded by Christian businessman David Thomas of Bloomfield Hills and includes an eclectic group of Christian senior leaders. Currently, Pastor Taylor is facilitating discussions on racial dynamics in the church and American society. Participation is by invitation only. Greater Detroit Partnership


The Greater Detroit Partnership (GDP) is a racially diverse network of church pastors founded by minister Matthew Parker with a mission to facilitate building relationships among area pastors and churches and leveraging the power of unity for Christ led community transformation. Pastor Mike Osminski of Warren and LTW founding pastor Dr. Taylor Cox are co-directors of the GDP.
